I have been off listening to a lot of other music the last couple of years. Most of it is World Music. Via
http://www.last.fm I came across Mohsen Namjoo, the Bob Dylan of Iran and I thought that maybe some people here may find him interesting. He sometimes includes the poetry of Rumi or Hafiz in his songs..not that I would know but the translations of the lyrics are very nice.

One day I'll lose it and kneel before your eyes
Collapse and be worthless like dirt, in your eyes
Indeed, all I am is "dust in the wind"
One day, I'll clip your blonde hair
Just to keep it, out of dispair
baby,
One day, when I'm all drunk and out of my mind
One day, when I'm dancing like the Nile
I'll flow, take you on the water and go
Together, away from all that we know
I'll be the Caspian sea babe just for you
The true meaning of what's in the arts babe, just for you
One day the eye and the other the perception
The chaotic mix of the no name nation
Oh my, Oh my, Oh my..
Your eyes our savior and we all kneel in their glare
"And there is salvation in no one else" (Acts 4:12)
And under no one else we shall be saved
ne day I'll lose it and kneel before your eyes
One day, crying a river with my eyes
One day, a crushed heart without no sight
Come on now, take me, take me now, take me
take me to the Golden Gate bridge and hang me
I'll be the Caspian sea babe just for you
I'll be your shield in the battle babe, just for you
One day the eye and the other the perception
The chaotic mix of the no name nation
Oh my, Oh my, Oh my..
In your longing is my relief
when I'm all hopeless in grief
Your memories: my companion
On the lonely roads with no companion
Your memories: a razor
Shocking my skin like a Taser
Oh the rusty razor, the razor
You're the cat and I'm the mouse
We all kneel for you
There's cheese around and then there's the mouse
We all kneel for you
You're a pain killer, my Aspirin
All peaceful except in the eyes
And I've gone wild, just like your eyes
Confused and helpless I am
Sunglasses, Sunglasses, Sunglasses
I'll be the Caspian sea babe just for you
I'll be your shield in the battle babe, just for you
One day the eye and the other the perception
The chaotic mix of the no name nation
Oh my, Oh my, Oh my..
The translation deserves a footnote:
The name of the song in Persian is "Gees" which means hair. In Persian literature, a lover's hair is a symbol of beauty and mystification. But this is usually not the case in western culture. Perhaps, the closest equivalent in the west is the lover's eyes.
